Our Homeschool Day

If you are a homeschooling family you know a few things. First off, your year probably starts differently than everyone else in the world. For us, our new school year starts when the new year starts or when we grow out of everything for that grade/age level. Second, you may have no clue what grade your child is in. For me, I have to go by their age when people ask me. My daughter is in second grade math, first grade reading comprehension, third grade penmanship, third grade scien...

LD 96

I want to share the short e-mail I sent to the education comittee here in Maine about LD96 which in short would require parents who pull their 5/6 year olds out of school to meet with a school board.

Dear Education Committee,

I am e-mailing you all today to vote no on LD 96. This bill is extremely unconstitutional, a scare tactic, and another way for the government to be more in the common citizens business when they should not be.

Almonds are a power house food, and if you haven't noticed by reading my blogs I LOVE cinnamon, which is not a bad thing because cinnamon is super good for you. Its not bad for you until the sugar comes into play. Another thing you must have found out by floowing me, I have a terrible sweet tooth and LOVE sugar. Take the good with the bad :). I love seeing the variation comments on my recipes. They are great ideas and some times I try them. Though please remember, if your suggestion is less su...

Posted by Ashley Mitchell on December 27, 2016 at 9:30 AM Comments comments (0)

I have four children now. Four children at Christmas. Does that sound terrifying? A little, yes. Having rules and boundaries help though. I learned very quickly that it is ok to say no, make sure you say no, and the anger and tears are over in about five minutes. That makes all holidays and birthdays easier from the start. These guidelines also make parenting easier most of the time.

Christmas with a newborn though... How do you handle...

Waiting For Our Exchange Student

I have been with EF since November of this year, and so far I have learned a lot. I wanted motherhood services to cover more than just birth because motherhood does not just end with a baby. Training and becoming an IEC has been a perfect way to do that. I find volunteer host families and after helping them through the application process and approving them I help them pick a student they want to spend the school year with, it is great! I get to check in with the students and fam...

Doula Interview Questions part 1

Posted by Ashley Mitchell on August 10, 2016 at 7:50 AM Comments comments (0)

Do a simple Google search and you will find a million questions to ask your doula at an interview. It's not a bad idea at all to look for guidance on what type of doula you are looking for.
